John L. Ryan
John Lee Ryan was born May 14, 1960 to Micky and Francy Ryan in Cottonwood, Arizona.
John grew up in Bridgeport and attended Cottonwood Elementary and Mingus Union High. He was very active in wrestling and FFA. He raised champion hogs for his FFA projects. John earned his State Farmers Degree, was Chapter reporter, Chapter President and State Vice President.
John finished college and graduated from ASU in 1985 with a business degree, major Marketing.
In 1992, John moved back to the Verde Valley. For the next 22 years, John gave back to the community. He served on the board for the Cottonwood Ditch Association, The Verde Valley Manor and the Verde Valley Fair Association.
Best of all, he was able to get back involved with the FFA kids. John served on the fair board and had the nickname of “Barn Boss”. Rumor has it that the barns just haven’t been the same since John stopped serving as a volunteer. He made a lasting impression on every one that crossed paths with him.
John loved to fish! He longed for the day that he could retire and spend most of the summer in Colorado on the Dolores River fishing.
John loved people and he wasn’t afraid to let them know. He always had a huge smile and a big hug for everyone!
