We’re Back! And June is going to be a great time to come be creative with us!
We’ll offer 5 new classes and provide instruction and all materials * for each of them.
Class space should be paid at time of registration, cash or check only.
Art Journal - Bookbinding
#5 Art journals are a place to try new techniques, express your inner self and to record your life journey. We’ll create a 9 x 12 blank journal with canvas covers and 48 pages of heavy mixed media paper suitable for almost any art medium you want use. The binding technique we will use will allow you to open the journal completely flat, expand with more pages or add bulky items to your pages.
All skill levels are welcome, however; the ability to sew with needle and thread and make accurate folds and cuts will be helpful. $35.00 Class is limited to 6 people. Plan on 2 – 4 hours. Thurs. July 1 place TBA.

Dot Art Mandalas
Our friend Pam does such beautiful work she inspired us to try it out. If pouring paint is about letting go, dot art is about detail and control. It’s also very meditative and relaxing. We are not experts yet, but we’ve learned a thing or two to get you started. Come try out a variety of tools and techniques. We’ll provide a practice surface and a canvas for your first creation.
$30.00 2-4 hours. Tues. June 29. 6:00pm in the Art Building
aRT is… Creative fun at the Verde Valley Fairgrounds. Low cost classes and workshops where you can explore your creative self, enjoy crafty get togethers just for fun…most importantly, aRT is…about promoting art and craft experiences for Youth in the Verde Valley.
aRT is…the dream child of Trish Hansen and Coleen Gilboy. Every year during Fair we hear visitors express their desire to participate in crafts, their concerns regarding financial commitment and confusion about how and where to start. The aRT is…program was born of a desire to address those issues and have some fun along the way. Our adult classes and workshops are geared to allow participants to try a new medium or technique without making a huge investment in supplies or taking expensive classes. Afterward they can either walk away with their project never to try that method again, or; hopefully, they will feel more confident about exploring the medium further.
Proceeds from our low cost classes are returned to aRT is…for supplies and to fund student canvases for the 122 Art Show.
Like everything here at the Verde Valley Fairgrounds, our focus is on opportunities for the youth in our community. The bulk of our fundraising efforts go to supplying kits to our schools for the Fall Festival 122 Art Show. Teachers may choose to incorporate the project into a lesson plan or allow the student to work on their own. The only rule for what is expressed on the canvases is that it is their original work and is family friendly. Students can write a haiku, take a photo, collage or paint a picture. The goal being to allow students to exercise their imagination and flex their creative minds. Entries are offered for sale with the funds raised going towards the next year’s canvases (sale proceeds are shared with the artist). With recent generous donations we are looking forward to expanding our youth programs in the future.
aRT is…3rd Thursdays. Crafters getting together to share social time and inspiration; bring your own project or share whatever Trish has going that day. We have ladies who bring their sewing machines, scrapbookers, clay artists and more.
aRT is… not a painting on the wall; art is an expression of a creative mind in whatever form that takes.
